Starboard Strategy Corp. is the brainchild of its president, Marie Gemelli-Carroll, who has more than 30 years of combined experience in advertising, marketing, sales, promotion and public relations. Whipsmart and dedicated, Marie utilizes the intelligent efforts of proven colleagues to spearhead a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, communications, marketing and public affairs. As lead consultant, Marie helps clients in corporations, local governments, nonprofit organizations and communities build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key audiences through strategy development, implementation, and communications outcomes and measurement.

Marie served as chief facilitator for Downtown Cincinnati Inc.’s Vision Task Force while also maintaining her position as government affairs director for Cincinnati Bell Telephone’s southwest Ohio territory. In addition to her corporate experience, she managed a number of consumer and business-to-business accounts for advertising and sales promotion agencies in Cincinnati. She is a recipient of the Association for Women in Communications local chapter’s Outstanding Communicator award, a member of the Leadership Cincinnati Alumni, a member of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s Communications Commission and she served six years as a trustee of Ursuline Academy, where she chaired the board’s public relations committee.

Marie created and continues to manage the Organizations of Noteworthy Excellence (ONE) awards program for nonprofit organizations, in collaboration with Jim Lay of J.F. Lay & Associates and the Cincinnati Business Courier. Ever curious about and cognizant of happenings in local government, she has unfailingly attended weekly city council meetings for the past 16 years.
